Talking Dirty with Croozy...
Name:
Wayne Rogerson
Location: Ulladulla NSW
What do you do for crust?
I work at our local Repco store & I also am in a Fujitsu V8 Supercar team
When did you join The Shed and why?
I used to just buy the mag but then started visiting the 4wd Action site. I joined The Shed in July ‘07. It's a good place to look at the rides that others have posted & maybe get some ideas for future mods on my car. There's a few guys on there that have done a lot of modifying & are happy to dish out info to anyone that is looking for help.
What do you drive & how long have you owned it?
A 1978 40 Series Cruiser, owned it since 1996
Any modifications?
Just a few, fibreglass tilt front, 2" suspension & body lift, tunnel rammed 283 Chev with custom made fuel injection & twin throttle bodies. T700 tranny, bundy transfer case, HiLux front discs, 60 series rear brakes to relocate handbrake 'cause the bloody rear tail shaft is only about a foot long. Corona steering column, commodore third row seat in the back for the kids, the front bar was a 4 post bar but a grinder soon saw to that. The seats are Monza replicas but I have a set of Stratos to go back in when I get around to getting them reupholstered because they're hell of a lot better than what's in it now & roll bar is 3.5" in diameter with the seatbelt mounts in it. Think that about covers it at the moment anyway.
Where do you like going bush?
The area where I live great for getting away. It has some good scenery & still has a few good tracks left that you can access, but there is also some great places to go camping. I get to do the odd trip north to Nowra or south to Bateman’s Bay, both have some really good 4wd tracks.
Any members off The Shed or 4WD Action Forum you usually go wheeling with?
As far as the shed goes only my brother DIESELDOG500. I'm trying to get a few other guys to join the shed that sometimes come out with us. We don't have any clubs here so finding guys to go wheeling with is a bit of a chore everybody works odd hours including me, so a trip to the scrub might kick off at 3 or 4 in the arvo & only go for a couple of hours, sometimes longer.
Tell us about that first ‘oh bugger’ moment you have had off road:
I wrote my old mans 60 Series Sahara off in '91 descending a rocky hill.
End result was one very bent cruiser & one very unhappy old man... Less said the better
What's next for the truck?
I'd like to put a locker in the rear when the funds allow & I'm looking into a coil rear end at the moment but that will be a bit of a challenge dew to the short rear tail shaft... Oh yeah the camshaft will be coming out soon in favour of something a bit more economic & the tranny will get some work.
Any mods made & since regretted & why?
Yeah should've paid a bit more money & got better material for the soft top but that was mainly due to lack of dosh.
Have you done any extended trips in your fourbie, if so do you have any advice or experiences to share?
Not too many extended trips 'cause it gets about 6k's to the litre if I behave myself. It was built for day trips mostly.
What’s your favourite rig off The Shed, other than your own?
Man there are so many on there it would be hard to pick just one & I haven’t even seen all of them yet. It’s just great to see all the different set ups.
Where are you planning to get to this year?
The old man is off up to the Cape in a couple of months with some friends & I wish I was going with them. However with the race season about to kick off I’ll be doing a fair bit of travelling anyway. Only down side is, it's all on the black top. There is a few good perks that compensate for that though.
