This week's Talkin' Dirty profile comes from the Sunshine State, courtesy of a uni student on a tight budget who proves you can build a good vehicle without it costing the earth. Let us present…
TALKIN' DIRTY WITH… MADPAJ
Name: Riley Carroll
Location (town and state): Mudgeeraba, Gold Coast in Sunny Queensland
What do you do for a crust?
I'm a uni student studying civil engineering. I've taken the first semester off in my second year to save up some money, and I'm labouring in a wood yard, as well as working as a general mechanic's hand at a bus company
When did you join the A4WDM forums and why?
I got onto the forums about two years ago, (before Ravo and whatsthatbeeping). I joined cause I really enjoyed reading some of the buildups, such as Cranky's, and RoeDeo's.
What do you drive and how long have you owned it:
A ye olde '86 Pajero 2.6L petrol. It was made in a time where curves were not invented and 2mm steel was weight saving.
What modifications have you done to it in that time:
-home made snorkel
-2in exhaust (the whole shebang, including headers)
-new 4WD shocks
-sunnys and 31s
-spotties
-draws in the boot
-crushed sills
-UHF
Where do you like going bush:
-Pac Pines
-Reddy Creek quarry
-Benarkin / Blackbutt
Any members off this forum you usually go wheeling with?
I've been out bush with known 2, chunky charcoal and missin bits
Who is your dream navvy and why?
Lara bingle!
Beer, bourbon, wine, whisky or soft-drink, what's your poison (type and brand)?
- Carlton Cold
- Bundaberg rum
- XXXX Bitter
Who'd win in a boxing match between Harold from Neighbours and Alf from Home and Away, and why:
Alf, only because the Alf character off that kids show was cool!
If your 4WD had a personality, what would it be?
Happy, sobering up, in need of a dodgy kebab
If you could say one thing to our nation's politicians, what would it be?
Stop putting rules on everything and have some fun!
What's your most memorable moment you've spent with your 4WD?
Out bush with mates, sitting round a fire knocking back cold ones after a big day driving. Also, getting the Paj to fly later the next day
Who would you like to see join the forums and become a regular poster?
I'm not sure, but anyone who is interested in learning more bout their fourbies and is looking for tips from people who have done this stuff before
Finally, who do you want interviewed next week:
Rocky!
That's it for another week folks, an insight into the life of Riley, a bloke who reckons Pajeros make just as good airplanes as they do 4WDs. Tune in next week for Talkin Dirty with Sylvester Stallone…
And, if you've got any suggestions for some new questions, leave them in the discussion thread on the forums! It's a sticky under the Clubhouse section, so it shouldn't be too hard to find…
